Graduation Year Calculator

Estimate your expected graduation year and graduating class from a U.S. K–12 grade or the current year of a two-year or four-year college program.

This graduation year calculator estimates when a student will finish 12th grade in the U.S. K–12 system or complete a standard two-year or four-year college program. The result is expressed as the expected graduating class, such as Class of 2030.

How Is the Graduation Year Calculated?

The calculator begins with the academic year you select and counts the standard years remaining after the student’s current grade or college-program year. The result is the calendar year in which the final academic year normally ends.

What Does “Class of” Mean?

The graduating class is generally identified by the calendar year in which graduation occurs. A student completing 12th grade during the 2029–2030 school year is therefore normally part of the Class of 2030.

Graduation Year by Current Grade

For K–12 students, the calculator counts normal yearly progression from the selected grade through 12th grade. A student in 9th grade during 2026–2027 would ordinarily complete 12th grade in 2029–2030 and graduate with the Class of 2030.

Kindergarten Graduation Year

A Kindergarten student has grades 1 through 12 remaining after the selected Kindergarten year. For example, a student in Kindergarten during 2026–2027 would normally graduate from 12th grade in 2039.

12th-Grade Graduation Year

A student currently attending 12th grade normally graduates at the end of that same school year. Someone in 12th grade during 2026–2027 would therefore be part of the Class of 2027.

Two-Year College Program Estimate

For a two-year program, the calculator uses the student’s current first or second program year. A first-year student during 2026–2027 would normally finish in 2028, while a second-year student would normally finish in 2027.

Four-Year College Program Estimate

For a four-year program, the calculator counts from the current first, second, third, or fourth year through the standard end of the program.

U.S. K–12 System Assumption

The school calculation follows the U.S. sequence of Kindergarten followed by grades 1 through 12. Grade names, school stages, academic calendars, and graduation requirements differ in Mexico and other countries.

Why Age Is Not Used

Students of the same age may be in different grades because of enrollment cutoffs, retention, acceleration, transfers, or personal circumstances. The current grade and academic year provide a more direct estimate than age alone.

Important College Limitations

The college estimate uses elapsed program years rather than completed credits. It does not evaluate transfer credits, part-time enrollment, accelerated schedules, course availability, degree requirements, internships, or changes of major.

Why the Actual Graduation Year May Change

The estimate assumes continuous enrollment and successful completion of each academic year. Repeated or skipped grades, gap years, early graduation, leave periods, incomplete requirements, and schedule changes can alter the actual year.

Private Browser-Based Calculation

The calculation runs locally in your browser. Your education level, grade, program year, and expected graduation year do not need to be uploaded to or stored on the ORVITech server.

How Is the Result Calculated?

K–12 graduation year = Academic year start + (13 − Current grade number) College graduation year = Academic year start + Program length − Current program year + 1

9th-Grade Graduation Year Example

A student in 9th grade during the 2026–2027 school year progresses through 10th grade in 2027–2028, 11th grade in 2028–2029, and 12th grade in 2029–2030. The expected graduation year is therefore 2030.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate what year I will graduate?

Select your current grade or college-program year and the academic year you are attending. The calculator counts the standard years remaining and returns the expected graduating class.

What year will a 9th grader graduate?

A 9th grader normally graduates at the end of the fourth school year beginning with the current 9th-grade year. A student in 9th grade during 2026–2027 would normally graduate in 2030.

What year will an 8th grader graduate?

An 8th grader normally graduates from high school five school years after the beginning of the current 8th-grade year. An 8th grader in 2026–2027 would normally be in the Class of 2031.

What year will a Kindergarten student graduate?

A Kindergarten student normally completes 12th grade 13 academic years after the start of the Kindergarten school year. A Kindergarten student in 2026–2027 would normally graduate in 2039.

What year will a 12th grader graduate?

A 12th grader normally graduates in the calendar year when the selected school year ends. For 2026–2027, that is 2027.

Is this calculator based on age?

No. It uses current grade or college-program year because students of the same age may follow different academic timelines.

Does the K–12 calculation apply outside the United States?

It specifically follows the U.S. Kindergarten-through-12th-grade sequence. Other countries may use different grades, school stages, and graduation requirements.

Can it estimate a college graduation year?

Yes. Choose a standard two-year or four-year program and select your current year within that program.

Does the college calculation use completed credits?

No. It estimates from the current program year and standard program length, not from individual credit requirements.

Does it account for a gap year or repeated grade?

No. It assumes continuous annual progression without gap years, repeated grades, skipped grades, or early graduation.

Is the expected graduation year guaranteed?

No. It is a planning estimate. Actual graduation depends on enrollment, completed requirements, credits, course availability, transfers, and personal circumstances.

Is my academic information stored?

No. The calculation occurs locally in your browser and the selected information is not stored on the ORVITech server.

Is the graduation year calculator free?

Yes. You can use it without creating an account or installing an application.
