Days Between Dates Calculator
Calculate the number of calendar days between two dates, including date ranges across different months, years, and leap years.
This calculator finds the number of calendar days separating a start date and an end date. It works across months and years and automatically accounts for the actual length of every month and for leap years.
How Are Days Between Dates Calculated?
The start date is subtracted from the end date using calendar-day boundaries. The result represents the number of date changes between the two selected dates rather than a duration measured in hours.
Elapsed Counting Versus Inclusive Counting
The calculator uses elapsed counting, so it does not count both endpoints as full days. July 1 to July 2 is one day, and July 1 to July 15 is 14 days. To count both the start and end dates inclusively, add one to the displayed result.
How to Use the Calculator
Select the start date, choose an end date that is the same or later, and click Calculate Days. The result identifies both selected dates and shows the number of calendar days between them.
Calendar Days and Business Days
Every calendar day is included in the result, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The calculator does not remove weekends or apply a country-specific holiday calendar.
Common Uses for a Date Difference
Use the result to measure time between trips, reservations, deadlines, appointments, project milestones, anniversaries, contracts, events, or other past and future dates.
Month Lengths and Leap Years
The calculation uses real calendar dates, so months with 28, 29, 30, or 31 days are handled automatically. February 29 is included whenever it falls between the selected dates.
Private Browser-Based Calculation
The calculation runs locally in your browser. The dates you select do not need to be uploaded to or stored on the ORVITech server.
How Is the Result Calculated?
Calendar days between dates = End date − Start date
Days Between Dates Example
If the start date is July 1 and the end date is July 15, 14 calendar-day boundaries separate them. The result is therefore 14 days. An inclusive count that includes both July 1 and July 15 would be 15 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate the days between two dates?
Select the start date and end date. The calculator subtracts the start date from the end date and returns the number of calendar days separating them.
Are the start and end dates both included?
No. The result uses elapsed counting. July 1 to July 2 is one day. If you need an inclusive count containing both endpoints, add one to the result.
What happens if both dates are the same?
The result is zero because no calendar-day boundary separates two identical dates. An inclusive count of that single date would be one.
Does the calculator count weekends?
Yes. It counts every calendar day, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Does it exclude public holidays?
No. The calculator does not use a holiday calendar, so public holidays are counted like any other calendar day.
Does the calculation account for leap years?
Yes. It uses actual calendar dates, so February 29 is counted automatically when it falls within the selected range.
Does daylight saving time affect the result?
No. The calculator compares calendar dates rather than dividing an elapsed number of hours by 24, so daylight-saving clock changes do not alter the calendar-day result.
Can I calculate dates several years apart?
Yes. You can compare dates across different months and years without a fixed maximum interval.
Can I calculate the number of days until a future date?
Yes. Select the current date as the start date and the future date as the end date.
Can the start date come after the end date?
No. The start date must be earlier than or equal to the end date.
Are my selected dates stored?
No. The calculation occurs locally in your browser and the selected dates are not stored on the ORVITech server.
Is the days between dates calculator free?
Yes. You can use it without creating an account or installing an application.
