Duplicate Finder

Find and count every occurrence of a specific word, phrase, or sentence within a larger text using a private, case-insensitive search.

This free online duplicate finder searches a larger block of text for the specific word, phrase, or sentence you enter. It returns the total number of matching occurrences, making repeated content and keyword usage easy to measure.

How Does the Duplicate Finder Work?

Enter the content you want to find, paste the source text, and click Find Duplicates. The utility performs a case-insensitive search and reports how many non-overlapping matches it finds.

Search for Complete Words

When the search contains a single word without spaces, the finder uses whole-word matching. For example, searching for cat finds cat but does not count category. Unicode-aware boundaries support words containing accented letters and characters from other writing systems.

Search for Phrases and Sentences

A search containing spaces is matched as a complete literal sequence. Capitalization does not matter, but spaces, punctuation, and line breaks must match the source text for the occurrence to be counted.

Case-Insensitive Matching

Uppercase and lowercase versions are treated as the same text. A search for hello therefore counts Hello, HELLO, and hello when they otherwise satisfy the same matching rules.

Special Characters Are Treated Literally

Punctuation and symbols in the search are interpreted as ordinary text rather than search commands. This makes it possible to look for content such as C++, prices, punctuation sequences, or text containing parentheses.

Non-Overlapping Occurrences

Each portion of the source text is counted only once. Overlapping matches are not counted as separate occurrences.

Common Uses for the Duplicate Finder

Use it to check keyword frequency, locate repeated sentences, count names or labels, review terminology, analyze recurring phrases, verify replacements, or measure exact text reuse in drafts, articles, notes, transcripts, and code.

Targeted Duplicate Search

The utility searches for the particular content you provide. It does not automatically scan the source and create a list of every repeated word or phrase.

Private Browser-Based Search

The search runs locally in your browser. The search term and source text do not need to be uploaded to or stored on the ORVITech server.

Searching Very Large Texts

There is no intentional server-side document limit because processing occurs in your browser. Extremely large inputs can still require additional time or memory depending on your device.

Duplicate Word Search Example

If you search for "the" in "The dog followed the cat. The cat slept.", the result is 3. The comparison ignores capitalization, and the whole-word rule prevents the search from counting those letters inside a longer word.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this duplicate finder detect?

It finds and counts occurrences of the specific word, phrase, or sentence you enter within a larger source text.

Does it automatically list every duplicate?

No. It performs a targeted search for the content you provide rather than listing every repeated item in the source.

Is the search case-sensitive?

No. Uppercase and lowercase versions are counted as matches.

Does it count partial words?

Not for a single-word search. Searching for cat does not count the letters cat inside category.

Does it support accented words?

Yes. Its Unicode-aware whole-word matching supports words such as café, árbol, and other text containing accented letters.

Can I search for a complete phrase or sentence?

Yes. Enter the phrase or sentence exactly as it should appear. Capitalization is ignored, but spacing, punctuation, and line breaks matter.

Can I search for punctuation or special characters?

Yes. Special characters are treated as literal content rather than regular-expression commands.

Are overlapping matches counted?

No. The finder counts non-overlapping occurrences.

What happens when no matches are found?

The result is zero occurrences.

Can I use it to count keywords?

Yes. Enter a keyword or key phrase to measure how often it appears in the source text.

Can I search source code or structured text?

Yes. You can search code, logs, lists, JSON, configuration text, or any other content that can be pasted as plain text.

Is my text uploaded or stored?

No. The search occurs locally in your browser and the entered content is not stored on the ORVITech server.

Is the duplicate finder free?

Yes. You can use it without creating an account or installing an application.
