How Is a Name Numerology Number Calculated?

Chaldean Name Numerology
The Chaldean chart used here assigns letters values from 1 through 8; no letter receives 9. The unreduced sum is displayed as the compound number, and its digits are then added until a single-digit root is obtained. This calculator does not preserve master numbers during Chaldean reduction.
Pythagorean Name Numerology
The Pythagorean chart assigns letters sequentially from 1 through 9. During reduction, this calculator preserves 11, 22, and 33 when one of those values appears, identifying it as a master number instead of reducing it to 2, 4, or 6.
Why Do the Two Systems Produce Different Results?
Chaldean and Pythagorean numerology assign different values to many letters and do not use the same reduction rules. A name can therefore have different totals and final numbers depending on the selected system.
Personal Name Numerology

How Names Are Normalized
Uppercase and lowercase letters are treated equally. Supported accented and extended Latin letters are converted to their base A–Z equivalents. Spaces and punctuation preserve readable word boundaries but receive no value; digits, symbols, and emoji are ignored. If a letter cannot be converted to the supported chart, the calculator identifies it instead of silently omitting it.

For José Oramas, the calculator uses JOSE ORAMAS after removing the accent. With the Chaldean chart, JOSE has a subtotal of 16 and ORAMAS has a subtotal of 18. The complete letter-value total is 34, which is retained as the compound number. Adding 3 + 4 produces the root number 7.
